Snake Detector

If you live in an area where snakes are common, you may need this helpful advice one day.

Suppose a snake enters your home, and you are unable to pinpoint its exact location.  Maybe you are not even sure in which room it is seeking a safe refuge.  You turn the house "upside down" looking for the intruder, but alas no luck in determining the hiding place.

Use a "trail" of flour to mark off all the doors and all the rooms.  Allow the house to become very quiet.  If the snake changes its location, leaves a room, you should be able to determine its movement by the disruption of the flour pattern.

You do not have to create a pattern as elaborate as the one pictured above, nor do you have to use organically produced whole wheat flour!

 I hope it works!

Thank you so much for this advice! I have wondered what to do if a snake gets in! We live right be the woods and I am sure it will happen sooner or later. I have the website ( http://www.marchanimalhospital.com )of the hospital by me if it gets my dog. I can be a lot safer knowing how to find it! Thanks again!

I hope you are never in the situation where you find it necessary to put the "Snake Detector" to the test. I admit that I felt a little uncomfortable sharing our house with the uninvited guest. Everyone asked how I could be uneasy about the snake if I saw reptiles in my practice, but I explained how a reptile patient was always in the exam room, and not surprising me in my bed or in the bathroom.

Thanks for the advise. . . snakes are no fun to have around. . . unless they are a pet. I know of one person who had a pet snake who kept getting loose. I'm sure this would have helped my friend find him.
