New Years Eve Surgery

While most folks were celebrating or preparing to celebrate New Years Eve, several members of the Northeast Veterinary Hospital Staff were hard at work caring for seriously ill hospitalized patients. Rocky, a charming Boxer who had won all our hearts, was not responding to treatment as we had hoped. A contrast radiographic study with BIPS ( pelleted barium) indicated an intestinal blockage.

Rocky's "parents" were out of town, but we were communicating via voicemail. Abdominal surgery was indicated, and we began prepping for surgery. No one even commented about the Holiday. Our concern was Rocky's health and well being. It was an involved intestinal surgery. A rope toy which Rocky had swallowed was the problem. After surgery, Rocky began rapid improvement. He was discharged from the hospital today, and everyone was on hand to tell him "good-bye".

It's a good thing Rocky went home today. He was eating us out of "house and home". What an appetite.
