Anesthesia Monitoring & Scorched Apple Pie
Saturday afternoon was a gorgeous summer day, and the dedicated veterinary technicians at Northeast Veterinary Hospital stayed inside studying safe anesthesia monitoring with Dr. Carrie Cummings. In appreciation, the least I could do was provide lunch.
I decided on pizza and tossed salad. Simple enough? Little did I know what lay ahead. I am not used to cooking for more than 3 or 4 people unless it is vegetable dishes, and I solve that problem by just planning more selections. O.K. while preheating the oven, I realized that the oven was too small. All the pizzas would never fit regardless of how creatively they were arranged. Lunch would be later that planned.
The pizzas were cooked in shifts. And since it was getting later & later, why not make a fresh apple pie to surprize everyone? With all the pizzas hot(?) from the oven, I proceeded to attempt to figure out their transportation to the veterinary hospital. My little Toyota Prius has never pretended to be a pizza delivery truck. How does Domino Pizza do this?
I decided to deliver the pizzas and return for the apple pie. Maybe I'll pick up some ice cream to go with the hot apple pie. Loading and unloading the fragile pizzas took much more time than I realized. Upon my return, the apple pie was found scorched beyond saving. This was getting ridiculous. I decided to cut to the chase and stop by CVS to purchase candy for desert.
Needless to say, the seminar was much more successful than my pizza episode. Next time I'm ordering take-out.
