The Rewards of Positive Reinforcement

A young canine patient of NEVH had a terrible accident during Christmas, and I was rechecking her today in order to examine some new problems she was experiencing. She wanted no part of the stainless steel lift table. In fact, she was terrified of it.

I placed a small treat on the table, & she so wanted that treat. It smelled so good!

Her desire for the treat overcame her fear of the table, and she walked onto the table to fetch her treat. It must have been delicious because she walked back to the table and sat in the middle of it waiting for a second treat. Of course she received a second and third treat. Every time she got on the table and sat down, she received another treat.

Mark another one up for positive reinforcement.
